WHATS NEXT?
- Started formally acting at age 8, joining the touring theatre company of Kidswrites, performing 40 times a year. Started making home films at around the same time on my parent’s DV camera.
- Admitted into Byng Arts mini school for theatre in grade 7, one of the most competitive and top art intensive programs in the country.
- Graduated with Honors in Theatre, Literature, and Media Arts.
- Admitted into the SFU SCA Film program. Top 3 film programs in the country, only 24 entrants are admitted into the cohort. Some awards and selections at film festivals during my tenure are as follows...
Winner - Best Canadian Short Film - Toronto Student Film Festival
Winner - Audience Choice - Top Shorts Online Film Festival
Official Selection - Vancouver Short Film Festival
Official Selection - Montreal World Film Festival
Official Selection - Seattle Shorts Film Festival
Official Selection - Top Short Online Film Festival
Official Selection - Santa Cruz Surf Film Festival
Official Selection - Portuguese Surf Film Festival
Official Selection - Silk Road Film Festival
Official Selection - Florida Surf Film Festival
- Was the youngest person hired onto the creative team at Kit and Ace. After I directed 2 global campaigns there, one of which won an Applied Arts Award, the whole brand department was laid off in a company restructure.
- With those films and a campaign directed for Uniqlo shortly after getting let go, I was signed to Kiddo Films, becoming one of the youngest commercially represented directors in the country.
- 2 years of learning and getting projects under my belt at Kiddo in Vancouver, I saw Toronto as my next step. After several trips and meetings out east, I received 4 formal offers for representation. I signed with Ad Hoc to enter Toronto advertising market, including a large scale project for the Ontario government.
- My PSA for Child Center for Child Protection I completed early this year won bronze at the Cannes Lions, the most prestigious award for advertising on earth, in the “Charity Commercial” category. Being one of the youngest Canadians to do so, and one of only 2 Canadians to win in a film category this year.
- This spot cemented my ability to elicit award winning performances when given the chance to work with actors and real dialog, something that was previously absent in my work because of my reptuation as a “visual director.”
